8. Plans & Billing
Learn how Magnifi's per-seat pricing works, how to start your free trial, manage seats, and handle invoices and cancellations.
Magnifi uses simple per-seat pricing — you only pay for the people who actually use your workspace. This guide covers the plans, starting your free trial, adjusting seats, and managing your subscription.
Billing is managed exclusively by the organization Owner. Admins and Members can use every feature their plan unlocks, but only the Owner can see the billing page, change seats, or manage the subscription.
8.1. Plans at a Glance
Magnifi has one free tier and one paid tier. Larger organizations can reach out for volume pricing.

Why per-seat? A team of 8 pays for 8 — not for a bracket of 15. Add seats as you hire, remove them when people leave, and your bill always matches your team. Annual billing gives you 2 months free.
8.2. Opening the Billing Page
Navigate to the Organization Dashboard sidebar and click Billing (the card icon) under the Administration section.
If you are not the Owner, the Billing link is hidden and the page shows an "Only Owners Can Access Billing" message. Ask your workspace Owner to make billing changes, or to transfer ownership first.
8.3. Upgrading to Team
When your workspace outgrows the 5-member Free limit, upgrade to Team. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial — you won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime during it at no cost.
Choose a Billing Interval
On the Upgrade to Team card, pick Monthly ($3/seat) or Annual ($30/seat — ~17% off). You can switch between them later from the billing portal.
Pick Your Seats
Use the − / + stepper to choose how many seats to buy. The live price preview updates instantly (seats × unit price).
The minimum is the number of members you already have, and the self-serve maximum is 50 seats. Need more? The button switches to Contact sales for volume pricing.
Start Your Free Trial
Click Start 14-day free trial. You'll be taken to a secure checkout to enter your payment details, then redirected back to the billing page.
Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Magnifi never stores your card details.
8.4. Understanding Your Trial
While you're in the 14-day trial, the Current Plan card shows:
- Status: Free trial
- First Charge: the date your trial ends and your first payment is taken
- A reminder line: Free until then · then $X/mo
You won't be billed until the first-charge date. After your trial converts, the same field automatically switches to Renews, showing your next billing date.
8.5. Managing Seats
Your team will grow and shrink — adjust seats anytime from the Seats card.
Adjust the Count
Use the − / + stepper to set your new seat count, then click Update seats.
Changes Are Prorated
Seat changes take effect immediately. Magnifi prorates the difference — you're charged or credited for the remainder of your billing period, so you only ever pay for what you use.
You can't reduce seats below your current member count. Remove members first (see Inviting & Managing Members), then lower the seat count.
Inviting a new member beyond your purchased seats is blocked until you add a seat — so you'll never be surprised by an unexpected charge.
8.6. Managing Your Subscription
Click Manage Subscription in the top-right of the billing page to open the secure billing portal, where you can:
- Update your payment method
- View and download invoices and receipts
- Switch between monthly and annual billing
- Cancel your subscription
8.7. Cancellation & Downgrades
You can cancel anytime from the billing portal.
- Access continues until the end of your current paid period — the Access Ends date is shown on your billing page.
- When the period ends, your organization is downgraded to Free.
- Your data is never deleted. However, Free limits apply again: you won't be able to invite new members past 5, create new projects past 5, or upload beyond 250 MB until you upgrade.
Refunds: Your first payment is refundable within 14 days. After that, you can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of your billing period. See the full Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.
